The Soundtrack of Summer: Louis Middleton on Memory, Music, and Montauk
As the sun begins its descent over Fort Pond and the last golden light settles across the water, live music has a way of turning dinner into something unforgettable. This summer, Mavericks is pleased to welcome Louis B. Middleton, a performer whose soulful blend of pop, R&B, and timeless classics provides the perfect soundtrack to a Montauk evening.
A powerhouse entertainer, Middleton combines virtuosic piano playing, soulful vocals, and an infectious stage presence to create performances that are both polished and deeply personal. Whether captivating audiences at exclusive venues, entertaining private gatherings, or sharing the stage with notable guests, he has built a reputation for commanding a room with effortless style and warmth.
Drawing inspiration from artists ranging from Elton John and Carole King to Coldplay and Oasis, Middleton's repertoire moves seamlessly between beloved classics, inventive reinterpretations, and heartfelt original songs. Beyond his solo work, he is one half of the DJ duo STABLES, where his piano and keytar skills meet a soundtrack of sophisti-pop, disco, and yacht rock. With new music set for release in 2026 and performances planned around the globe, Middleton continues to bring his eclectic sensibility to audiences everywhere.
Music has always been woven into his life.
"I grew up around music," Middleton says. "My parents turned me on to some of the best artists of their time."
Those early influences included Elton John, Hall & Oates, Bread, Traffic, David Bowie, Yes, and Todd Rundgren. By his teenage years, his tastes had expanded even further, embracing sounds and styles from across decades and genres.
Today, his listening habits remain delightfully eclectic.
"My taste in music is all over the map," he explains. "Currently, my soundtrack consists of Richard Marx, James Taylor, French jazz café playlists, sophisti-pop, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Genesis, Ned Doheny, and Celine Dion."
That wide-ranging sensibility informs his performances, which blend soulful vocals with a deep appreciation for melody and storytelling. More than anything, Middleton hopes guests leave with a feeling of nostalgia—and perhaps a few new memories.
"I'd hope guests feel cathartic," he says. "I want my song selection to take them to a memory and to attach that memory to a new one associated with the Hamptons."
It's a fitting aspiration for Montauk, where summer itself is measured by moments worth remembering: sunset cocktails by the pond, long dinners with friends, and songs that forever become tied to a particular place and season.
At Mavericks, live music is more than an accompaniment to the evening—it's part of the experience. Artists like Louis Middleton help create the rhythm of summer, providing the soundtrack for celebrations, reunions, and spontaneous nights that linger long after Labor Day.
Perhaps that's the magic of music. A familiar melody heard over dinner becomes forever associated with the glow of a Montauk sunset, the clink of martini glasses, and the company gathered around the table.
This summer, Louis Middleton will provide that soundtrack.
And with any luck, you'll leave with a few memories of your own.
